Abelardo Morellwas born in Havana, Cuba, in 1948, and immigrated to the United States in 1962. His work, which has received a Guggenheim and numerous other grants, has been shown around the world at museums, such as The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. He is a professor at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston.
