Huddle’s work has appeared in The American Scholar, Esquire, and The New Yorker. His novel Nothing Can Make Me Do This won the Library of
Virginia Literary Award for Fiction, and his collection Blacksnake at the Family Reunion won the PEN/New England
Award in Poetry. His latest novel, Hazel, is forthcoming from Tupelo Press in
2018; his story in this issue is a chapter from that novel.
