Jay Deshpande is the author of Love the Stranger and The Umbrian Sonnets. The recipient of a Stegner Fellowship and the Scotti Merrill Memorial Award, he teaches at Columbia University and Sarah Lawrence College and runs the Brooklyn Poets Mentorship Program.
