M. Shahid Alam was born in Bangladesh and received his PhD from the Uni­versity of Western Ontario, Canada. For many years, he has taught economics at North­eastern University in Boston. He has published four books and numerous articles and essays about economics and politics. His poetry has appeared or will appear in Critical Muslim, Chicago Review, and Prairie Schooner.
