Mónica Lavín is an award-winning Mexican writer who has published over thirty books. Her first story collection in English is Meaty Pleasures. She was a fellow at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Yaddo, and The Hermitage Artist Retreat, where she wrote “The Mangroves,” which appears herein for the first time in any language.
