Urszula Kozioł studied Polish
literature at the University of Wrocław and is associated with the Generation
of ’56, a group of writers who debuted in 1956 during a time of
relative openness after the death of Stalin. The author of nineteen collections
of poetry, she has received numerous awards, including the Kościelski
Foundation Prize and the Literary Prize of the Polish PEN Centre.
